The New Jersey Law Journal recently recognized Nelson as one of 50 “New Leaders of the Bar” under age 40 for his already distinguished career in law and public service as counsel to major public and private sector clients, as well as his extensive involvement in public policy matters statewide.  In 2013, Brian was also recognized as a “top attorney” in governmental matters by SJ magazine in South Jersey, and the Gannett newspaper group identified Nelson as one of New Jersey’s “Rising Stars” in government and politics likely to emerge as the next generation of leaders in New Jersey.

Brian was directly appointed by Governor Chris Christie to serve as a member of the Board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). He was also a member of Governor Christie's and Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop’s Transition Teams.  In 2008, Brian served as New Jersey counsel to Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, and he is a former Executive Director of the New Jersey Republican State Committee.

Brian received his law degree from the Rutgers School of Law in Camden in 2002 after having graduated a year early, magna cum laude, with a degree in Political Science from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 1999. While in law school, Brian was the recipient of the Raimondo Legislative Fellowship from the Eagleton Institute of Politics. As editor of his undergraduate newspaper, the Anti-Defamation League also named Brian an Albert Finkelstein Memorial Fellow, fully sponsoring a study mission to Poland and Israel.

Brian is a sustaining member of the Republican National Lawyers Association, a member of the Federalist Society for Law & Public Policy Studies, and a member of the Monmouth County Bar Association’s Judicial Selection Committee.

Brian lives with his wife and three children in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
