John’s practice involves business consulting, business development, government relations and estate administration.
Elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1984 – 2018, John served the River Wards of Philadelphia both in the community and in Harrisburg. John was the Chairman of the House Urban Affairs Committee, the House Liquor Control Committee, and the House Transportation Committee. In his chairmanship role, John was a member of the State Transportation Commission and oversaw all legislation dealing with aviation, freight and passenger rail transportation, mass transit, automotive travel and road safety for all modes of transportation. In addition, John was involved with issues concerning road and bridge construction, the Motor License Fund, multi-modal funds and the State Police. He regularly interacted with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the Port of Philadelphia and the Delaware River Port Authority.
John was also a leader in addressing the challenges that face his native city of Philadelphia. He has been particularly active in efforts to eliminate blight and incentivize redevelopment in the city. John also led efforts to reduce violence in Philadelphia schools and promote alternative educational opportunities. He was a member of the bipartisan “Gang of Five” that developed an innovative package of anti-crime measures. He was a member of several House panels and committees charged with a variety of local, state and national issues.
John has been active with all civic groups, business development and community development groups in his district. He is the former Chairman of the Republican City Committee and is the leader of the 25th Ward.
